Fans of 60s-based cinema might be interested in a forthcoming movie based in that particular decade – Made in Dagenham.
The film stars Sally Hawkins as Rita O'Grady who kickstarts the 1968 Ford Dagenham strike by 187 sewing machinists which led to the advent of the Equal Pay Act. Working in impoverished conditions and doing long hours, the women at the Ford Dagenham plant finally lay down their tools when they are reclassified as 'unskilled'. Unwilling to accept it, they take on their corporate paymasters, an increasingly belligerent local community, and finally the government itself to win their case.
As well as Sally Hawkins, the cast includes Bob Hoskins, Miranda Richardson, Rosamund Pike, Jaime Winstone, Geraldine James, Andrea Riseborough, Daniel Mays, Kenneth Cranham, Roger Lloyd-Pack, Rupert Graves and John Sessions. No, he's not talking about hunting round your local charity shop, the 'vintage' here refers to the Vintage at Goodwood event.
It's been touched on across this site in the past, on the forums and yesterday on our Facebook site relating to The Faces playing the event. But for those of you weho don't know, Eddie Piller is a 'curator' of the event and in this article, gives us some background and an idea of what to expect if you fancy it.

Nice to see a decent quality clip of 60s cult classic What's Good For The Goose hitting YouTube – so here it is.
Yes, that is Norman Wisdom in a dinner jacket, giving it his all as the Pretty Things play a gig in Southport (where he's actually supposed to be at a banking conference).

Mikkel Rude has added footwear to his range, specifically the 1969 Boot, which is a limited edition made solely for him by Solovair in Northampton.
Originally known as Astronaut boots (but no longer as the trademark for those currently resides in Japan), it's an a 11 eyelet boot with air cushion sole, which is available in black or dark oxblood, with a slim silhouette and 'clean finish'.

I've been working on this for a while, but lack of availability of some tracks has limited the progress of the Pomp! playlist on Spotify. But it's finally added up to a decent number of tunes.
The clue is in the name – slightly pompous, over-produced or just a bit orchestral, the kind of tunes that throw in a little bit extra to the mix.
Most are from the 60s (mid to late-60s as a guide), with some you'll expect and you a few you might not. Sadly, the Left Banke aren't on Spotify, so just hum one of theirs at the end for the full effect. Obviously you'll need Spotify access to listen to it and don't forget to check out our other playlists.

Hot weather = hot weather clothing, which might mean a t-shirt. if it does, you might want to check out the new Gary Crowley-designed t-shirts at Gama Clothing.
Following on from the 60s club shirt range, the designs are The designs are 'Dizzy Gillespie for President' taken from the opening credits of 'The Presidents Analyst'' starring James Coburn (1967), The Scene (membership card), and a 'Mod '64!' design.

Can't get a ticket for the Paul Weller Royal Albert Hall gig? Or can't be bothered/can't afford to go? Well, we have some good news – you can watch it online. But there's a catch.
The May 27th gig will be viewable live on the web, but this isn't some freebie as a thnak you to the fans – the online access will cost you. You'll have to pasy £9.99 to watch the concert as it happens, with the added bonus of watching repeats over the following dates. If you don't want to pay, you can watch 15 minutes for free – then you'll be blocked. Probably just as your favourite tune kicks in.

Regular readers will know that we
flagged up a screening of
Season of the Witch by the BFI offshoot, the Flipside. Well, that screening has come and gone. But at least we have a review of this rare gem online.
The Scenester nipped down to the NFT for the screening, which also included videos of lead Julie Driscoll (with Brian Auger) from the musical side of her career, as well as some Q&As from director Desmond McCarthy, who talked about the making of the Wednesday play – the BBC's detour into 60s counterculture.
The review is online now. Here's hoping it's followed soon by a DVD release of Season of the Witch.
