Barry Murphy returns once more to trawl the TV and radio guides (so you don't have to), finding anything worth tuning into this week. All listings are for UK terrestrial TV, Freeview and national radio, with the shows running from Friday 22nd January to Thursday 28th January 2010.
Highlights of the week
Fresh from winning the Emmy for best TV drama for the second year running, Mad Men returns to our screens for a third series this week (BBC 4. Wednesday 27th,10pm). Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylised and provocative drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego driven world where key players make an art of the sell. The latest season takes place in 1963 and starts with a double bill.

As some of you might have heard, Mike Evans, bass player of mod/beat legends The Action (pictured above), has died, aged 64.
Rather than me writing a tribute piece, might I direct you to a very good one already online, written by someone with both a deep love and knowledge of the band – Mark Raison.
He's written a piece on his Monkey Picks blog that's well worth a couple of minutes of your time. Mike, you'll be missed, but the music you contributed to will live on for many a year. If you're not familiar with the band, see also the video here, which is a documentary featuring the band, dating from 1967.

If restaurant tables are a bit thin on the ground this Valentine's Day, you could always try your local cinema, which just might be showing the 60s classic Breakfast At Tiffany's on the big screen for one day only, courtesy of the BFI.
Directed by Blake Edwards and starring George Peppard, Patricia Neal and of course, Audrey Hepburn in that iconic role as Holly Golightly, it's the classic tale of two 'bohemians' falling in love against a Manhattan backdrop – Peppard playing aspiring writer Paul Varjak, Hepburn the party girl with a hidden past.
A full list of where the movie is playing can be found over the page. Or if going out seems a bit too much like hard work, you could always buy yourself a DVD copy for under a fiver.

Ok, tin hat firmly in place, I think I can now safely unveil what's certain to cause some kind of reaction in you – the Mods collection from Bape (aka Bathing Ape).
Yes, this is Mod in its eye – a parka-like coat, some hats and plenty of Union Jack designs on t-shirts and sweatshirts. If you hadn't guessed, this isn't out of Europe, nor is it out of the US – yes, it's from Japan, where the collection is due to go on sale on 23rd January.
The rest of us? Well, we'll probably not see it – which might not be a bad thing. or you can always try the online store if your Japanese is up to it.

It's probably the most talked-about movie you can't actually buy (now that Privilege has been reissued anyway), but finally, Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush is heading to DVD.
No details of exactly when, but the folks from the BFI/Flipside told us that the movie is 'slated' for 2010, with the details of the release still being sorted out. If the Flipside are sorting it, we can expect something special in terms of presentation, as well as a Blu-ray version of the movie too.
In the meantime, check out Traffic playing the theme tune on Beat Club below – it's a cracker.

If you regularly check out our Retro To Go site, you'll know that we have just featured the work of Claudia Varosio, essentially reworkings of some of the artist's favourite movies and movie posters. That selection includes Quadrophenia, which we thought worthy of a mention here.
Like all the other posters, Claudia has taken Quadrophenia down to its bare bones, using only a key image from the movie for the poster design – as you can see, the scooter – with title and credits underneath.
But best of all, these posters are selling very cheaply. Sized at 12 x 18 inches and printed on premium archival lustre pape, it sells on the artist's Etsy store for $16.90 (Around £10) and shipped out of the UK. if you love your cult movies, check out the full range at that Etsy shop.

We've featured the Fred Perry bomber jacket in various incarnations in the past (including a nylon version), but none come in all that cheap. That's not the case with the Uniqlo Stripe Rib bomber jacket.
Uniqlo isn't exactly big on the details, but we can see a classic bomber jacket look and shape, with three colour options to choose from. What it's made of isn't clear, you might want to check it out in person if you're lucky enough to have a store near you.
If you want to take a chance, you can buy it online, priced at £39.99.
