Duffy photography exhibition in London

Z_0570_JOHN_LENNONSMALL

The Duffy in question is not the current pop singer, but Brian Duffy, the photographer who made up the “Black Trinity” with Terence Donovan and David Bailey. Like his more famous contemporaries, Duffy was working class, glamorous and inventive and worked with some of the most famous names of the era. However, Duffy disappeared of the scene and attempted to burn all of his negatives.

Fortunately, some survived and after two years of archiving work, the Chris Beetles Gallery is able to open the first even exhibtion of Duffy’s work. The exhibition brings together 60 images from the 1960s that documents “Swinging London” and includes portraits of Bowie, William Burroughs, Michael Caine, John Lennon and Jean Shrimpton. Each print will be available to buy in a limited edition of 50, signed by Duffy himself.

The exhibition runs from 14 October to 7 November at the Chris Beetles Gallery, 8 & 10 Ryder Street, London, SW1Y 6QE. www.chrisbeetles.com
