The Miracles: Depend On Me

by Modculture 24 August, 2009

You might know some of the later Smokey Robinson and the Miracles tunes like the back of your hand, but the early output of the Miracles is often overlooked. Which is where The Miracles' Depend On Me set comes in.

Released by Universal/Motown, the collection is a two-disc set, but actually includes the first five Miracles albums – Hi We're The Miracles, Cookin' With The Miracles, I'll Try Something New, The Fabulous Miracles and Recorded Live On Stage, all in original mono mixes. There's even five non-album tracks thrown in, including a rare single version of the classic Shop Around.

Complete with original sleeve imagery, rare photos and associated words, it's available from September 7th for £8.98 (at Amazon). Hopefully we'll have a review online ahead of that.

Pretty Green limited edition black parka

by Modculture 24 August, 2009

I think it's fair to say that the Pretty Green clothing range from Liam Gallagher has had a mixed reception – some people like it, some aren't so charitable, especially when price comes into play. But if you liked the parka produced as part of the range, you might want to get your hands on this new version – the Pretty Green limited edition black parka.

As the name suggests, this is black and a limited edition – 350 in total and according to the advertising blurb, Liam has number one, Paul Weller has number two and you can now pick up any of the remaining 348, each one with the edition number clearly marked on the custom-designed garment tag.

£245 will secure you one. Future collector's item? Probably not.

Fred Perry Jacquard Polo Shirt

by Modculture 21 August, 2009

Not sure if this works or not, but it is nice to see Fred Perry trying something a little different, as it is with this Jacquard Polo Shirt.

It's a fine cotton jacquard polo in maroon with contrast navy detailing on collar, cuffs, placket and pocket. The small collar buttons down and placket fasten with embossed buttons. Of course, there's a laurel too, embroidered in contrasting navy.
