Villain screening at the BFI

Villain

Richard Burton is the subject of a retrospective at the BFI in August, which means a showing for cult gangster flick Villain.

If you've not seen it, Burton plays London crime boss Vic Dakin, a composite of gangster's of the period - loves his mum, vicious when dealing with his enemies and privately gay. He runs the city - until one blag too far sees his empire unfold. Dodgy accent from Burton, but still a cracking role in a much underrated movie.

It shows on Saturday 22nd August, Wednesday 26th August and Friday 28th August 2009. For details of the full Richard Burton season, see the link below. Or if you want to see the opening scene of Villain, see over the page for the movie's trailer.
