Gama Clothing 60s Club t-shirts

Gama Clothing has produced a range of t-shirts featuring iconic 60s clubs and other institutions of the decade.

The GCT's are 'designed' by DJ and broadcaster Gary Crowley, although as most of the logos are pulled from original 60s artwork, I'm not sure how much designing was actually done - although he has picked the designs that feature on the shirts and overseen development of the range to be fair.

Either way, they're certainly eye-catching and worth a look for your summer hols, with The Marquee, the Flamingo, The Scene and The International Times being the first of the limited edition designs for sale. You can buy all of those from 1st June 2009, priced at £20. See over for more images.

Manchester's Arty Farty Film Club

It just might get even more grim up north when the Arty Farty Film Party in Manchester goes kitchensink for its next event.

The events take place every first Wednesday of the month at An Outlet, Dale Street, Manchester, kicking off at 7pm, so by our reckoning, the next one should be on Wednesday 3rd June.

The theme this time is 60s kitchensink, so you get to vote online for either A taste Of Honey, Kes, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, A kind Of Loving, Billy Liar, Cathy Come Home or The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. Or you can add another choice of your own. Voting closes at 9am this Friday, so get your vote in now at the website below.

Quoc Pham retro cycling shoes

Cycle to work, but don't want to take an extra pair of shoes? Check out these newly-launched Quoc Pham cycling shoes.

British made, the shoes are designed to fit the gap between cycling footwear and casual shoes, with a tapered shape to fit inside a pedal cage, but with enough style to catch the eye when you're walking about during the day.

Made from what's described as 'the finest materials around' and in various finishes (including a patent leather), they should be available in the non-too-distant future for...well, we're not sure about the price as yet.

Blue Note tribute in London

If you happen to be in the capital tomorrow evening (29th May 2009), you might want to check out Ain't No New Thing at Filthy MacNasty's.

It's a Blue Note 70th anniversary special, described as 'a four hour musical trip exclusively through the finest music produced on one of the most influential independent record labels of all time. All Blue Note. All night long.'

Resident Sid Ford is joined by guests WeeGee (Fickle Formula) and Rob Whitlock (Brownswood), with special Blue Note visuals on the night from VJ Butch Auntie. The night runs from 7pm until 11pm, entry is free and you'll find Filthy MacNasty's at 68 Amwell Street, London, EC1R 1UU.

Retro TV W/C 29th May 2009

Barry Murphy returns once more trawl the TV and radio guides (so you don't have to) to find anything worth tuning into this week. All listings are for UK terrestrial TV, Freeview and national radio, with the shows running from Friday 29th May to Thursday 4th June 2009.
 
Highlights of the week 

California Dreamin': The Mamas and the Papas, a new documentary charting the formation, instant rise and success of the Californian pop group is shown on BBC 4 this weekend (Friday 29th: 9pm & 1am and Sunday 31st: 10pm & 12.30am). Interviews with the band, coupled with performance and archive footage, show the group in their heyday, and the band give detailed accounts of the writing and recording of their hit songs, as well as their personal responses to (and problems with) instant fame and success.
