Island at 50 shows announced

We first told you back in October about the 50th anniversary year of Island Records. Now the live show lineups to accompany the celebrations have just been announced.

The Island 50 Festival is a week of performances in May at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire from some of Island's artists past and present. The two shows of interest to Modculture readers are surely Paul Weller on the 29th, and Amy Winehouse supported by Toots & The Maytals on the 31st.

Pre-sale tickets are available from 9am on Thursday March 12th here, and are on general sale on Friday.

The celebrations continue on May 21st with the publication of the book Keep On Running - The Story Of Island Records. Also Island Life, an exhibition of photos, artwork and memorabilia will run from May 22nd until June 17th at The Vinyl Factory (Phonica Records, 51 Poland Street, London).
