Back in February we introduced you to the sound of The Moons. Well now we’re pleased to see that next month they play a rare live show at London’s legendary 100 Club.
The gig will take place on Thursday January 22nd, with support from Operator Six. Andy Lewis (who along with Moons mainman Andy Crofts is currently a member of Paul Weller’s band) will be behind the decks all night, so expect some excellent mod-shaped tunes all night. Tickets are £5 in advance from here, or £7.50 on the door. The night kicks off at 7.30pm.
The Northampton four-piece has recently been hard at work on their debut album, which is expected early in 2009. For more on The Moons have a listen to their Myspace page here, or become a fan on Facebook here.

It’s the last-ever live gig at Filthy’s in Twickenham, with the final band on stage being British Rhythm & Blues legends Nine Below Zero.
The band will play for one night only for a Christmas show on Saturday 27th December, with admission just £5. The night runs from 7pm until late and you’ll find the venue at Heath Road, Twickenham, Middlesex. The advice is to get there early, as it’s expected to get very busy.

Now here is something unusual for you west country mods to scratch your head over: Roger Daltrey is to play a show with Babyshambles.
The Who frontman will team up with the modern-day mod icon (of sorts) Pete Doherty and his band to play the Bristol Academy on Monday January 12th.
Daltrey originally met Doherty in July at the funeral of Daniel Squires, a 16-year-old cancer sufferer who had struck up a friendship with the former Libertines man. Doherty had performed a song at Squires’ wake, and Daltrey was said to be so impressed with his voice that he insisted that they team up for the gig. Sounds difficult to believe, but we are not making this up.
Tickets for the show are on sale now, and cost £25 (plus booking fee) from here.

OK, the store isn’t really ‘online’ in the traditional sense, but Textile King in London does now have an email service.
If you’ve never encountered the shop, it’s on Berwick Street, Soho and is certainly a place to look and contact for tonics, kid mohair, wool suiting, tweed and especially for stylish shirt material – which is really hard to trace. A lot of tailors also used the place, so it’s worth cutting out the middle man’s premium and going direct.
There’s no substitute for going in, but if you want to get in touch and ask for something specifically before you travel, you can email the shop at textileking@btconnect.com.
Failing that, give them a call on 020 7437 7372 or visit the store at 81 Berwick Street, London, W1F 8TW.
