Weller_rick

For the Jam fan who has everything (and some spare cash), we present the Paul Weller-owned Rickenbacker guitar, up for auction at Christies next month.

Owned and used by Weller in the 70s, it's a 1974 Rickenbacker 330 guitar, Serial No. NG 4292, in fireglow finish, double cutaway body, single cats-eye soundhole, rounded front body, 21 fret fingerboard with dot inlays, two pickups, five rotary controls, selector switch, standard jack input, chrome 'R' tailpiece and white split level pickguard. Scratched on the body is 'I am nobody'.

The guitar is accompanied by a copy of The Jam, Extra Special, showing Weller playing the guitar during a 1979 promotional film for German television, as well as a colour photograph of Weller holding the guitar, the original invoice on Jam headed paper and a letter of provenance.

The estimate is £5,000 - £7,000 and the action is being held at Christies in London on 7th July 2008.
