What do you want on the site?

We're about to start our re-design of the website and to go along with it, we want to stick up a load of new content. We hope to expand and improve existing sections, but we need to know specifically what you are interested in.

Do you want more listings? More news? More reviews? And if so - what kind of reviews do you want - clubs, events, films, books, music or anything else?

And do you want more articles - and if so, what kind of articles? And who do you want us to interview? Or perhaps you want something more technical - like a radio station or downloads? Would you be interest in well-designed merchandising?

Please let us know your thoughts abut the above and anything else by contacting the site or leaving a comment below. And if you fancy contributing in any way at all, we're ALWAYS happy to hear from you.

Just a quick one as I've not been on the site for a while and only have time to lurk these days but any chance of having links to electronic newsletters/magazines like Scene 64 produced by Caudia and Dave E for example? I'm not linked onto their blog page so really miss the hard copy but if there is a place (on MC perhaps) where we can access at a click that would be useful. similarly any other interesting blogs or news sites. this is in addition to the existing links to other websites and forums. Jack that cat is clean is great and a good example.

what happened to the short video clip section (ie Claudio did a great short?) has it turned into the Utube post?

And lastly music links would be good where people can upload short bursts of music so people can hear first hand what the poster are raving on about, this may effect size of the site as these files will no doubt get rather large over time?

just my penny's worth.

regards

Alan

Some good ideas Alan ... I always thought a place to temporarily store sounds who be great but fully understand the legal implications as well as the size/storage problems that go with it.

I was thinking a modern history of the mod scene (last 10 years ...) with interactive views on the scene, clubs, trends etc... Don't know how to make it and if it would work though.

With Uppers gone, there's also a lack of general articles, but you'll need more collaborators ...

Just to reply to a couple of points:

1. Always happy to link to items like photos, memorabilia etc - I am working on the gallery right now to add more.

2. Audio - that's an issue on a few levels - copyright being the main one, but also bandwidth costs (with 40,000+ pages read daily, you can imagine what it will do). Radio is a possibility because you can get a license of sorts or indeed podcasts of new bands (or bands that own copyright). Asking for trouble offering a free-for-all I think.

3. Have looked at doing something with video/YouTube - that's hosted externally, so can easily work with that if the content is made available.

4. Articles and interactive again would be easy, but much depends on getting the content. As (more or less) a one man band and one who doesn't do this full-time by a long chalk, I rely on submissions for articles, which are rarely forthcoming. I have thought about an A-Z of late, fitting in YouTube clips where appropriate, along with images and text.

5. With regard to emails I've received, I would do more US-based content, but like the above, I'm not in the US so need content sending over really. Articles about the US scene (or any other country) would be much appreciated. And that includes Mexico (referring to another email).

Keep the thoughts coming...all appreciated...

A whole listing of new and current Mod bands which is frequently updated thnx :D

Podcasts would be added value...as it's the music that turn people on at first!

Updated reviews on records and movies would be good as well...so one have a few hints on what to pick up if lacking on ideas or don't know where to start.

More tailoring and clothing articles...instead of the usual "out now"

General articles on modern living nowadays, and from where i'm writing (continental south end) main city guides allover with nighlife, events, shops (As it used to show up on Uppers and is in here for UK) and accomodation would be top advisory for travel planning.

Some modscene archives with pics, articles (as on Jack that Cat...)and inside views might feed our souls as well.

more great articles like the 'Buying your first mod suit' one- maby some more guides to mod living, with illistrations/diagrams ect.. some simple things like asking well known mods/djs for thier top music playlists - keep doing what your doing! im sure you dont want to turn into a wikipedia site but a good intro to mod and its history would be nice.

One person I would like to see an interview with is Cathy McGowan. I get the impression that this might be hard I don't even think she was interviewed for the BBC tribute to RSG recently but maybe you know better?

I'd suggest a colour scheme change, but thats just me. sometimes I feel self concious like I'm reading a feminine forum when co-workers spring up being me!

Make it more british as "The Mods" Were a british thing and make sure u DO NOT put any US content on it also podcasts as a other peson has pointed out would be good.
GO MODS

Some rapidshare links where members could share some of their music would be be good, and none of the music would be actually hosted by this site.
